PURPOSE: An alphabet system that creates a cohesive thread between the diverse locations and sets… something that you see in EVERY location… something that ties all the characters in the world together. Should also serve the function of bringing HUMANITY to a cold and scientific environment.
AVOID: Obvious sci-fi solutions to an alphabet… the matrix-y, “let’s use binary and HTML for everything” approach…. nothing w/ numbers. It has to be imperfect and full of flaws.
IDEAS and INSPIRATION:
This symbol system needs to contrast the straight lines of the power plant… Nothing computer generated looking. I wonder what it would look like to create an alphabet of imperfect circles and ovals…. even a few squiggly lines. I’m thinking if Slavic calligraphy and Arabic had a baby… What about Tongan or Javaneese, Burmeese, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, Punjabi or Kannada?
